This temple is famed for its sacred votive tablets, widely known as Khun Paen. It is believed that this temple was built after a historic war between King Naresuan and Burmese troops. The fish sanctuary in the river in front of the temple provides a relaxing place for locals and visitors to while away their time. At the temple entrance, old-fashioned wooden shophouses offering snacks reflect the easy-going lifestyle of the local residents.
The Phra Khun Paen amulets were kept inside the Chedi for worship by Somdet Pra Ponnarat. There were 84000 pcs with 27 kinds of Single Khun Paen and 14 kinds of Twin Khun Paen. The Twin Khun Paen is very important because is created for memory of King Naresuan the Great and King Phra Ekatosarot.
