Ubon Ratchathani - Wat Si Ubon
Established in 1855, Wat Si Ubon Rattanaram (also known as Wat Si Thong) features an ordination hall resembling Bangkok's Wat Benchamabophit.
Situated above a much larger statue, the main hall contains the 12cm-high "Topaz Buddha" known as Phra Kaew Busarakham, which is said to have been brought from Vientiane at the time of Ubon's founding. Carved in Chiang Saen style over a thousand years ago, it is the city's most sacred posession. Every year on April 13, the topaz image is taken around the city in a procession.
