Ubon Ratchathani - Wat Tung Sri Muang

Built during the reign of King Rama III, the temple is especially interesting for its replica of a Buddha Footprint and its wooden Tripitaka library, called Ho Trai. It was built on stilts in the middle of a pond, a classic strategical position to protect the books and writings from rodents and crawling insects. It is open to the public and corridors inside are beautifully decorated with wooden paneling and gold leaves. There are also two viharns, one on the left, quite old and one more recent on the rignt of the library that houses a larger sitting Buddha.
